Retrofit simulation

The Retrofit simulation dashboard empowers users to evaluate buildings‘ decarbonization performance. Users can model retrofit scenarios, tracking carbon emissions, energy consumption, projected carbon savings, and capital expenses.

Running retrofit simulations allows users to design more effective decarbonization strategies, accurately predict and map their carbon footprint, and compare the costs against emissions savings.

They also help safeguard building assets from the risk of becoming
stranded assets. They encourage input from various stakeholders, facilitating informed and actionable decisions.

For detailed information on how retrofits are factored in, refer to Retrofit calculations

Note

We use the decimal point as a separator for numbers in dashboards (e.g., 10.356). We group numbers with many digits with commas as delimiters (e.g., 28,867,46.56).

Portfolio decarbonization KPIs

Get an overview of the retrofit measures added to the BuildingMinds Platform with the following KPIs:

- Number of retrofits for the selected element in the left-side menu of the geographic and custom view.

- Number of buildings with a retrofit in relation to the total number of buildings for the selected elements in the left-side menu of the geographic and custom view.

- Total energy savings related to retrofits.

- Total carbon emission savings related to retrofits.

- Total CapEx invested in retrofits.

- NPV of total CapEx

- Average CapEx per year invested in retrofits.

- CapEx per tCO2e invested in retrofits.

Predicted operational carbon emission or energy demand vs. CapEx

Monitor CapEx changes over time with absolute or intensity-based energy or carbon data in retrofit and "Do nothing" scenarios. Choose emissions or energy data for visualization. Opt for a location-based approach to view the CRREM 1.5°C or 2°C target.

Summarize defined retrofit measures with CapEx (circle size) and year-of-retrofit carbon savings. Circle color shows CapEx per ton of saved emissions. Hover over a circle for details on retrofit, CapEx, total cumulative emission savings, year-of-retrofit carbon savings, and a compliance diagram with the CRREM 1.5°C carbon intensity target.
