CRREM v1 and v2: Building type classification

Building types considered for CRREM predictions

The CRREM tool provides energy and carbon targets specific to different building types, and these classifications vary between CRREM versions. Below is a list of building types with targets under each CRREM version.

Note

CRREM building types have to be aligned with classifications from the Common Data Model (CDM), a standardized framework used to categorize building types for consistency in data reporting and analysis.

Differences in building types between CRREM versions

In CRREM version 1, the building type "Industrial distribution warehouse" was treated as a single category. However, CRREM version 2 introduced more specific classifications:

  • Industrial distribution warehouse cold

Warehouses with controlled cold storage, typically near loading zones, with higher energy demands.

  • Industrial distribution warehouse warm

General-purpose non-refrigerated warehouses used for dry storage and distribution.

Unaligned building types

Certain building types, such as “Industrial, Industrial park” and “Industrial, other,” do not have CRREM targets in either version. Custom targets can be requested for clients needing targets for these specific categories.
