The Tenant insights interface enables tenants to monitor their electricity consumption and their gas consumption within the rented space, supporting both tenants and property owners in managing energy and gas consumptions more effectively. By tracking utility usage, tenants can take measures to reduce and optimize their consumption contributing to a building's overall energy performance and supporting net zero goals.
To utilize Tenant insights, customers must provide:
Digital twin data: Includes building and rental unit details, with valid rentable areas and usage types.
Meter and data provider information: At least one meter per rental unit is required, collecting daily (or more frequent) electricity consumption data, integrated via a data provider.
Admin setup: Admin users in the BuildingMinds platform must add users and assign roles with appropriate rental unit access.
Permissions: The professional service team will assign permissions for each rental unit based on customer-provided data.
Admin users can customize Tenant insights by uploading company logos and selecting a color theme, replacing the default BuildingMinds theme and logo. These changes are made in the BuildingMinds platform settings.
User settings: Users can customize their interface language and regional units (time, date, number formats).
Rental unit management: Users can search and filter rental units they have permission to view, and export data to PDF or Excel.
Intensity switch: Users can toggle the intensity switch on or off to view consumption data in total units (kWh or mWh) or normalized per square meter (kWh/m² or mWh/m²). This allows users to understand better energy efficiency with the size of the rental unit.
Consumption insights: Currently supports electricity consumption and gas consumption, with future updates planned carbon emission insights.
Tenant insights offer real-time updates on electricity and gas consumption trends, comparing current data with previous months, years, or average consumption days. Headlines notify users of significant changes or patterns in their energy usage.
Provides basic information about the rental unit, including its size, usage type, and the building's address.
This section provides a high-level understanding of electricity and gas consumption and carbon emissions for the selected rental unit using these metrics:
Total consumption per m²: Displays the total electricity and gas consumed per m² for the selected rental unit and time period.
Average monthly consumption per m²: This shows the average electricity and gas consumed per m² per month over the selected time period.
Peak load: Highlights the highest level of electricity and gas consumption for the selected rental unit during the chosen time period.
This section helps users understand how electricity and gas consumption has evolved over the years by comparing each year with the previous one.
Total annual consumption: Shows the total electricity and gas consumed per m² for each year for the selected rental unit within the selected time period.
YTD consumption (Year to date): Shows the cumulated electricity and gas consumed per m² for each year since Jan until today for the selected rental unit within the selected time period.
YTD trend (Year to date): Shows the percentage difference in electricity and gas consumption between the current year and the previous year, using the YTD consumption data of the selected rental unit and time period, helping users track long-term trends in energy use.
This chart provides a detailed view of how electricity and gas consumption has developed over the selected time period for the selected rental unit and helps users understand the general trend.
The consumption over time can be broken down by time intervals—yearly, quarterly, or monthly.
This chart provides the user a detailed view of the average electricity and gas consumption for each day of the week to understand the trends and identify outlier or possible improvements.
This feature allows users to compare the energy efficiency of their rental unit with other rental units of the same usage type.
Consumption per m² shows the rental units ranking based on their electricity and gas consumption per m² over the selected time period.
Rental units are ranked from lowest to highest electricity consumption per m².
The net zero guide provides actionable tips and steps to enhance the energy performance of the rental unit.
Offers clear, simple steps for improving energy efficiency, each with practical recommendations.
