Workflow

This is the workflow for initially setting up the Custom structure.

  1. Your organization's BuildingMinds Platform administrator and the BuildingMinds Professional Services team define the custom structure types required in the custom structure and their relation to other types within the first setup. Examples for types are:

    • Portfolio

      • Fund

      • Geographical zone

        • Region

    • Business unit

    • Company group

    • Other organizational structures

As you can see in the example, you can nest types and create a parent-child relationship. For more information, see Manage types.

  2. To avoid that buildings and lands are assigned randomly in the custom structure, your organization's BuildingMinds Platform administrator and the BuildingMinds Professional Services team define to which types the buildings and lands will be allowed to be assigned.

In our example, we defined that buildings and lands can only be added to the types Region and Fund.

    • Portfolio

      • Fund

        • Building

        • Land

      • Geographical zone

        • Region

          • Building

          • Land

For more information, see Manage types.

  3. Your organization's BuildingMinds Platform administrator and the BuildingMinds Professional Services team define the custom structure nodes based on the previously defined types.

Examples for nodes for the nested types (Portfolio | Fund/Geographical zone | Region) mentioned before:

    • Corporate (Portfolio)

      • EMEA (Geographical zone)

        • EU North (Region)

        • EU South (Region)

        • EU West (Region)

        • EU East (Region)

      • Americas (Geographical zone)

        • North America (Region)

        • Central America (Region)

        • South America (Region)

    • Institutional (Portfolio)

      • Berlin (Fund)

      • Nordics (Fund)

      • Pension Fund A (Fund)

      • Pension Fund B (Fund)

For more information, see Manage structure.

  4. After creating the structure, it is available in the BuildingMinds Platform.

  5. Define which buildings and lands belong to which custom structure node. For more information, see Assign buildings and lands to the custom structure.

  6. Only your organization's BuildingMinds Platform administrator can edit the custom structure in the Administration center and publish a new version whenever needed.
