Manage workspaces in 3D view

A workspace is a single bookable entity that always belongs to a previously added work area. For each workspace, the capacity is defined to specify how many people can use it, e.g., a desk for silent work has a total capacity of one person versus a meeting room desk with more people.

Note

You do not have access rights if the Add, Edit, or Delete buttons are inactive. To get the permissions, please contact your BuildingMinds administrator.

Add workspace

  1. Open the building's floor and the Workspace management. For more information, see Access workspace management.

    The 3D BIM model opens, and the floor plan for the selected floor. For more information on how to navigate the 3D model, see Navigate the model.

  2. Open the right-side panel by clicking Chevron_left.

    By default, the Work_areaWork areas tab opens, and a list of all work area types previously defined in the Workspace management settings is shown.

  3. To open the workspace section of the right-side panel, click on the Icons_desk button.

  4. Click +Add

    The workspace library opens containing workspace entities predefined during your organization's onboarding.

  5. Select a workspace entity and click Assign.

  6. Use the prefilled information or change it. For more information, see.

  7. Click Add and place the workspace in the model.

Duplicate workspace

To add several workspaces of the same type and dimension, you can use Duplicate.

  1. Open the building's floor and the Workspace management. For more information, see Access workspace management.

    The 3D BIM model opens, and the floor plan for the selected floor. For more information on how to navigate the 3D model, see Navigate the model.

  2. Open the right-side panel by clicking Chevron_left.

    By default, the Work_areaWork areas tab opens, and a list of all work area types previously defined in the Workspace management settings is shown.

  3. To open the workspace section of the right-side panel, click on the Icons_desk button.

  4. Click Duplicate and place the duplicated workspace in the model. You can adjust the orientation and position after placing the last duplicated workspace.

  5. Enter a name and select Add more workspaces to immediately duplicate the workspace again if you need to add more workspaces of the same dimensions and type. When you place the last workspace, deselect Add more workspace.

  6. Click Confirm. If you selected Add more workspaces, place the next duplicated workspace in the model.

Edit workspace

  1. Open the building's floor and the Workspace management. For more information, see Access workspace management.

  2. Open the right-side panel by clicking Chevron_left.

  3. To open the workspace section of the right-side panel, click on the Icons_desk button.

  4. Click on the workspace in the model or open the workspace in the list which you want to change.

  5. Click Edit.

  6. Change the workspace information. For more information, see.

  7. Click Save.

Delete workspace

  1. Open the building's floor and the Workspace management. For more information, see Access workspace management.

    The 3D BIM model opens, and the floor plan for the selected floor. For more information on how to navigate the 3D model, see Navigate the model.

  2. Open the right-side panel by clicking Chevron_left.

    By default, the Work_areaWork areas tab opens and lists all work area types previously defined in the Workspace management settings.

  3. To open the workspace section of the right-side panel, click on the Icons_desk button.

  4. Click on the workspace in the model or open the workspace list and select the workspace you want to delete.

  5. Click Delete.

Enable workspace for booking

You can make workspaces available for booking in a connected external booking solution or mark them as not bookable when adding or editing them in the model. You can also use the workspace booking view to change the availability for booking several workspaces.

  1. Open the building's floor and the Workspace management. For more information, see Access workspace management.

    The 3D BIM model opens, and the floor plan for the selected floor. For more information on how to navigate the 3D model, see Navigate the model.

  2. Open the right-side panel by clicking Chevron_left.

    By default, the Work_areaWork areas tab opens and lists all work area types previously defined in the Workspace management settings.

  3. To open the workspace booking view, click BM_Icons__booking.

  4. Set the checkmark for all workspaces you want to enable for booking under Bookable. Uncheck workspaces that are not available for booking.

    All bookable workspaces are displayed in green in the model. Workspaces that are not bookable are shown in orange.

Enter the length, width, and height of the workspace.

You can only edit the dimensions when adding a workspace from the workspace library. If you are editing an existing workspace or duplicating an existing workspace, you cannot change the dimensions.
