A work area is an area within the building that belongs to a given work area type defined in the Workspace management settings. Users can add work areas on floor level to buildings. Work areas usually cover a whole space or part of a space.
You currently do not have access rights if the Add, Edit, or Delete buttons are inactive. To get the permissions, please contact your BuildingMinds administrator.
Open the building's floor and the Workspace management. For more information, see Access workspace management.
The 3D BIM model opens, and the floor plan for the selected floor. For more information on how to navigate the 3D model, see Navigate the model.
Open the right-side panel by clicking .
By default, the Work areas tab opens, and a list of all work area types previously defined in the Workspace management settings is shown.
Open the work area type by clicking on to which you want to add a work area.
Click on + Add to model and select from the following drawing modes:
To get additional information on shortcuts to draw shapes for the selected mode, click on the icon. For more information, see.
Draw the work area on the model. After finishing, enter a work area name and Confirm.
View the newly added work area in the list under the work area type. The Area entry is automatically calculated based on the drawn shape in the model and calculated for the whole work area type.

Click on the work area shape in the model or open the work area list under the work area type in the right-side panel.
Click Redraw and double-click on the shape edge you want to change.

To save the changes, press Enter.

By default, the Work areas tab opens, and a list of all work area types previously defined in the Workspace management settings is shown.
Click on the work area shape in the model or open the work area list under the work area type in the right-side panel.
Click Delete.
When deleting a work area, all related workspaces are deleted as well.
