Manage types

Note

Only BuildingMinds Platform administrators can manage custom structure types.

The BuildingMinds Professional Services team and your organization define the initial structure during the onboarding process. If changes in the structure are necessary, your organization's BuildingMinds Platform administrator can change it and create new types.

Types are required for the custom structure and their relationship is defined under Manage types in the Administration center. You can specify a parent-child relationship for the different types. Administrators also define to which custom structure type users can add sites, buildings, and lands.

Once an organization is set up, the Custom Structure comes with predefined System types that include: global, continent, country, region, site, building, and land. These system types cannot be deleted and are recommended for use. The site, building, and land types are necessary for adding the corresponding Real-Estate Objects in the Custom Structure.

  1. Go to the Administration center. For more information, see Open administration center.

  2. Select the tab Custom structure.

  3. Select the tab Manage types.

  4. Open the existing type structure and select the type where you want to add a new one. Click on +Add in the structure.

  5. Enter a name for the custom structure type.

  6. Select whether nodes of this type can have buildings, lands, sites, or additional custom structure types.

Edit types

  1. Go to the Administration center. For more information, see Open administration center.

  2. Select the tab Custom structure.

  3. Select the tab Manage types.

  4. Open the existing type structure and select the type you want to edit. Click on the general_Edit button in the structure.

  5. Change the type's name or change the selection if users can add buildings, sites, and lands, to this type. When one of the options is selected, users can add buildings, sites, or lands to a node of this type when managing the custom structure.

  6. Click Save.

    Note

It is not possible to uncheck a child if nodes of that type exist in the structure. The nodes must be removed first. For support, reach out to BuildingMinds Professional Services.

Delete types

Note

To provide fully functional navigation and dashboard filters, you can only delete types if there does not exist a custom structure node of that type under the Manage structure tab or a child type within the type definition.

  1. Go to the Administration center. For more information, see Open administration center.

  2. Select the tab Custom structure.

  3. Select the tab Manage types.

  4. Select the type you want to delete. Click on the Icons_Delete button.

  5. Confirm deleting the type by clicking on Delete.

Note

If the button is inactive, the type either contains a child type or a custom structure node of this type exists. You need to delete the nodes or child types first.
